Sign up for SMS reminders
Patients of subscribing DocsDocs practices can opt in here to receive appointment reminders and related transactional messages.
Who we are
DocsDocs is a dental practice management platform used by dental practices across the United States. Subscribing practices use DocsDocs to communicate with their patients via SMS for appointment reminders, recall and recare, treatment-plan follow-ups, billing notices, post-visit care instructions, and two-way conversations with practice staff.
How patients opt in
Patients consent to receive SMS messages from a DocsDocs subscribing practice through one or more of the following:
- A signed paper or digital intake form completed at the practice that includes an explicit checkbox or signature authorizing SMS contact at the mobile number provided.
- A verbal confirmation captured in the practice's communication log when a patient provides their mobile number for appointment-related contact.
- Replying with a start keyword (such as
START,JOIN,YES, orSUBSCRIBE) to a message from the practice's assigned phone number.
Consent is captured per patient, per mobile number, and is recorded in the patient's record along with the timestamp and the staff member or form that captured it.
What patients receive
Examples of messages a patient may receive:
- "Hi Jane, this is Dr. Smith's office reminding you of your cleaning on Tue Jun 3 at 10:00 AM. Reply C to confirm, R to reschedule, or STOP to opt out."
- "Dr. Smith's office: it's time to schedule your 6-month cleaning. Reply with a good day/time or call (555) 123-4567. Reply STOP to opt out."
- "Your balance of $48.00 from your visit on May 2 is ready. Pay securely at [link]. Reply STOP to opt out."
Message frequency varies by practice and by the patient's care schedule. Most patients receive between 2 and 8 messages per month.
Opting out
Patients may opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUITto any message from the practice's phone number. The practice and DocsDocs will immediately stop sending SMS messages to that mobile number. A single confirmation message acknowledging the opt-out may be sent.
Patients may reply HELPat any time to receive the practice's contact information and a reminder of how to opt out.
Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply, depending on the patient's mobile carrier and plan. DocsDocs and the subscribing practice are not responsible for charges levied by the patient's mobile carrier.
Privacy of mobile opt-in data
Mobile opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. Mobile numbers and opt-in records are used only to deliver the messages described above on behalf of the subscribing dental practice and are subject to the DocsDocs Privacy Policy and the applicable Business Associate Agreement between DocsDocs and the practice.
