Careers

Build the future
of dental operations.

DocsDocs is an early-stage startup building the modern dental ecosystem — scheduling, charting, claims, payments, and patient ops in one platform. We're small, fast, and looking for people who want real ownership from day one.

AI Engineer

Full-time Saratoga, CA or Remote Permanent

DocsDocs is built AI-first — not just in what we ship, but in how we build it. Agentic coding tools, automated review pipelines, and AI-driven workflows are how this codebase moves fast with a small team. We’re hiring AI Engineers to push that further: design and maintain the AI development workflows the whole team builds on, from coding agents and custom tooling to automated testing and documentation pipelines. We handle protected health information, so doing this safely matters as much as doing it fast — you’ll think hard about what AI tools can touch, what they can’t, and how to keep agent workflows secure in a regulated codebase. You’ll spend your days making AI genuinely useful for software development — and shipping product features with the workflows you build.

What we look for

  • Real experience building AI workflows — coding agents, automation pipelines, or multi-step LLM tooling that you or others actually used
  • Daily fluency with AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) — these are core to how we work
  • Strong prompt engineering instincts: you know how to get reliable, repeatable output from a model and how to debug it when it drifts
  • Comfortable working with at least one major model API (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google)
  • Solid foundation in hands-on software development beyond AI tooling — ideally on the web side (TypeScript, React, Node, or similar); the workflows you build still have to be good code
  • A track record of using AI to ship faster: side projects, work projects, or open source all count
  • Good judgment about when AI helps and when it gets in the way
  • Awareness of the security side of AI tooling — agent permissions, prompt injection, and keeping secrets and sensitive data out of model context
  • Bonus: experience with agent frameworks, MCP servers, custom dev tooling, or CI/CD automation

AI Engineering Intern, Summer ’26

Internship Saratoga, CA or Remote 4 – 12 weeks

We build with AI every day — coding agents, automated workflows, AI-assisted review. As our AI Engineering Intern, you’ll learn how a modern AI-first development team works and contribute to it directly: improving our agent workflows, building small automation tools, and shipping real product features using the same AI tooling the rest of the team uses. If you’ve been experimenting with AI tools and want to see how far they go in a real codebase, this is that role.

What we look for

  • Comfortable in at least one programming language (preferably JavaScript / TypeScript)
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) on real projects
  • Curiosity about prompt engineering and AI-driven automation — you’ve tinkered and want to go deeper
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Bonus: any project where you built something with an AI workflow, not just using one

Legal Intern, Summer ’26

Internship Remote 4 – 8 weeks

DocsDocs handles protected health information for dental practices across the country, which means compliance isn’t an afterthought — it’s foundational. As our Legal Intern, you’ll work directly with leadership to ensure our platform, contracts, and data practices hold up under HIPAA, state privacy law, and the evolving regulatory landscape for health technology. If you care about the intersection of law and software — and want your work to have a direct impact on how a real product is built — this is that role.

What we look for

  • Basic understanding of California law and how it applies to software and data
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, HITECH, or healthcare privacy law (coursework counts)
  • Ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, actionable guidance for a non-legal team
  • Strong research and written communication skills
  • Comfort reviewing and drafting contracts, BAAs, or privacy policies is a plus
  • Interest in health technology, SaaS, or startup environments

Dental Industry Research Intern, Summer ’26

Internship Remote 4 – 8 weeks

Dental practice operations are complex, and building software that genuinely helps practices requires understanding how the industry actually works — from scheduling and charting to CDT codes, payer adjudication, and how front-desk staff interact with claims day to day. As our Research Intern, you’ll dive deep into dental operations, clinical workflows, and payer behavior, then translate what you find into insights that directly shape our product roadmap. Your work will inform what we build, how we describe it, and where we focus next.

What we look for

  • Background or coursework in dentistry, dental hygiene, health administration, or a related field
  • Genuine curiosity about how dental insurance, billing, and claims work end to end
  • Ability to synthesize research into clear written summaries and recommendations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience in a dental practice or insurance context is a strong plus
  • No coding experience required — this is a research and strategy role
